Cannot Connect to the Internet – A checklist before posting


First step-- Briefly turn off or disable your firewall.

If this works Firefox is being blocked by your firewall. Your best bet is to contact the folks who made your firewall and ask them how to allow Firefox to connect to the Internet.

If they have a forum, go there and search for “Firefox blocked”. If you do not get any returns or don't understand the steps post a message. I would suggest “Firefox Blocked” as a subject and “Can someone tell me how to let Firefox through the firewall?” as the text. If you have done a search and did not understand the instructions add that to the message.


That didn't work?


Second Step – Type 64.233.187.99 in the Firefox address bar.

If this takes you to the Google home page then the problem is likely to be found in your Anti-Virus or your Internet Security Suite. Your best bet is to contact the folks who made your AV or security suite and ask them how to connect to the Internet.

If they have a forum, go there and search for “Firefox Blocked (DNS?)”. If you do not get any returns or don't understand the steps posted in a message, I would suggest “Firefox Blocked (DNS?)” as a subject and “Firefox cannot reach the Internet and someone thought DNS is blocked. Can you give me step by step instructions if this is true? Can you give me another suggestion?” as the text.


Still cannot get to the Internet?


Step Three – Use a program and post a question here.

First, download this program http://www.trolly.homepage.t-online.de/EnumProcess.exe . This is written by one of the forums monitors and is safe.

Second, turn off your firewall again.

Third, run the program and click on “Save to Clipboard”.

Fourth, post to MozzillaZine forum by either posting to a message that you think describes your problem or starting a new subject. Make sure you either register or type in a name to use as a guest.

In the text of the subject give us the following information:


  1. The name of your firewall and that you have already tried to turn it off or disable it and asked for support from them or their forum.

  2. The name of your anti-virus and security suite and that you have tried to reach Google by typing 64.233.187.99 and have tried to get support from them or their forum.

  3. Paste the information you copied to the clipboard when you ran the program above.
